MUSEUMS
The Valdisieve has a lot of museums which collect important
goods and testimonies of the dominating cultures and the peasant
culture, the real face of the area. At Rufina you can visit the
Museo della vite e del vino, which collects one of the most
complete historical documentation of the wine production, apart
from the vast collection of old tools for the wine production and
the cultivation of the vineyards.

| At
Pelago, in the Pieve di San Clemente, is housed the Museo di Arte
Sacra which preserves many art-works, altar-pieces, manuscripts
and church furniture. In Dicomano, at the village of Frascole, you
can visit the archaeological area which have put to light the remains
of a boundary wall probable from the Etruscan period, from the IV
to the II century b.C. The Museo d'Arte Sacra di Reggello,
hosted in the Pieve di San Pietro a Cascia, preserves the polyptych
of San Giovenale, considered to be the first work by Masaccio. Still
in the municipality of Reggello, you can visit the archaeological
area of Poggio alla Regina, which has returned part of the medieval
settlement of the Castello di Castiglione. |
