DICOMANO

The foundation of the historical centre of Dicomano goes back to the Roman period, though there are not many remains that testify the origins of the town. You have to see the Loggias from the 17th century along the via Alighieri, the elegant palaces Delle Pozze and Della Nave close to the square Piazza Buonamici and the Oratory Sant'Onofrio from the 18th century.
Not far form the centre you should visit the Pieve di Santa Maaria located in a panoramic position on the top of a hill, in which precious paintings from the XVI are preserved. In the neighbourhood of Dicomano you can visit the Badia ad Agnano, with a bell-tower from year 1000, the Villa di Poggio, with origins from the 14th century but restructured in the 18th century and the Etruscan archaeological findings at Frascole. See the Church and the Convent of San Giovanni, founded in the 18th century on the remains of a medieval church of San Ditale. At Vicorati, a hamlet to Dicomano, you find the Oratory Montedomini from the 16th century and the remains of the medieval Castle.
