ARTS AND TRADES
The abundance of sand-stone, wood and products from the forest
have determined the artisan and productive activities since the
Middle Ages. The modern artisan work-shops allows you to witness
the history of the old trades which have survived and put up to
date with the needs of the consumers.

In
Valdisieve there are still many mills, both wind and water mills,
which still grind wheat and chestnuts.
There are still lots of sculptors who make real masterpieces, art-works,
architectonic finishes and complements to furniture out of the stone.
Not less skilled are the smiths who forged the iron, and we also have
to mentioned the artisans who make bottles and carpenters. Some artisans
in the Valdisieve continue the tradition of covering a flask with
straw and making baskets, hats and other items.
