CETONA

Continuing the same road you reach Cetona, a charming medieval village with Etruscan origins at the feet of the mountain with the same name. The historical centre offers the Collegiata church, built in the 13th century which preserves precious frescoes from the 15th century.
The ancient human settlements in Cetona can be seen in the Parco Archeologico-Naturalistico in the area of Belvedere-Biancheto, which features important findings. The Museo Civico per la Preistoria del Monte Cetona shows the phases of population in the area from the Palaeolithic period to the Bronze period. Not far from the village you find the ex convent of Santa Maria at Belvedere, a hermitage from the 14th century with nice frescoes. In the neighbourhood you can visit the Bronze village. Cetona is famous for its wine and extra virgin oil and for the preparation of cold cuts made of the meat from animals which breed in a natural state.
