MONTAIONE

Going even further south you find Montaione which does not have much left from its medieval past. In the centre of the village you might visit the Chiesa di San Regolo, restructured in the middle of the 17th century, the Palazzo Pretorio which features many armorial bearings on the façade and houses the Museo Archeologico.
Towards Gambassi Terme you should visit the Franciscan convent San Vivaldo, located where Vivaldo Stricchi from San Gimignano in the 14th century lived in the trunk of a chestnut tree. In about twenty chapels from the 16th century there are groups in polychrome terracotta representing the life of Christ.
