CASTELFIORENTINO
Further down the valley of Certaldo you get to Castelfiorentino,
the capital of the Valdelsa and an important industrial centre.
Founded by the Romans, it still preserves some remains of the medieval
fortified walls and two towers. In the lower part of the village
you can visit the Chiesa di Santa Verdiana, a marvellous example
of religious architecture from the 18th century, embellished with
frescoes and paintings.
