The uncontaminated landscape, the forests, the springs and
the rivers and streams, the lakes and the green areas are an invitation
to spend an open-air holiday in the Mugello. The walking trails
connect the Mugello with the Valdisieve with a main path and twenty-two
secondary itineraries.

trekking in the Mugello means discovering the flora and the fauna,
represented by roe deers, wild boars and moufflons, but also the old
churches the castles. Some of the trails go along the Etruscan, Roman
and medieval roads. The Mugello offers a great opportunity to go biking,
with itineraries for both beginners and not. The main trekking trail
was designed to host bikers as well. On the other hand, some deviations
from the main trail can be traversed on the horse-back and many of
the resorts in the Mugello features stables which organise excursions
with different levels of difficulty. The most important leisure activities
are held at the Lago di Bilancino which is an artificial lake containing
69 million cubic metres of water and is 31 metres deep. At the lake
you can practise canoeing, sailing and windsurfing, while the small
lake Lago di Vicchio is a great place for fishing. At Scarperia you
find one of the most prestigious golf-courses in Italy with 18 holes,
par 73, a putting green and a big training area. Also try wind-sailing,
organised by the Aeroclub in Borgo San Lorenzo where you can take
the pilot certificate. At Barberino you find sport-flying or arches
and trap-shooting. |
